Unlocking Indonesia's Coconut Potential: Initiating Practical Community Solutions

Known as the “land of coconuts”, Indonesia has the largest coconut field and production in the world. After a field research in several poor villages on the island of Nias, we have found great potential resources to improve their living conditions. To realize this potential, it is crucial to initiate practical community solutions that promote sustainable practices, strengthen local communities and address the challenges faced by small farmers. In order to achieve this in one of the villages, we have established the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Development in cooperation with local farmers. The aim of the institute is to find practical solutions for agriculture and communicate them to the communities. Through such initiatives, we can unlock the true economic, social and environmental benefits of the local coconut industry, improve livelihoods and contribute to the overall development of the country.
